Daniel O’Brien is an award-winning composer of screen, commercial and concert music. His works include Bluey (Disney+, Ludo), Fisk (ABC) and The Strange Chores (ABC).
Winner of the 2024 APRA/AGSC Screen Music Award for Best Music in Children’s Programming for Bluey: The Sign and nominated for an AACTA Award for Best Original Score in Television for Fisk Season 2, Daniel is renowned for his ability to craft music that is both memorable and impactful. His television commercial work, which includes major clients such as Sea World, Dreamworld, Gold Lotto, and CPL, has earned him two Brisbane Advertising & Design Club awards. Additionally, his concert music is regularly performed across Australia, both professionally and within the education sector.
Daniel was classically trained at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University, majoring in composition. In 2021, he graduated with a Master of Arts Screen (Music) from the Australian Film Television & Radio School, under renowned Hollywood orchestrator Cameron Patrick (Star Trek, Zootopia, The Incredibles).
Daniel is based in Brisbane and is currently working as the assistant composer and studio manager to the accomplished Joff Bush (lead composer of Bluey). Daniel collaborated on the ARIA-winning Bluey album Dance Mode.
